The Theme for the 2025 BHM Showcase is Roots: Connecting to our Ancestors & Culture
When we think of the roots of a plant we think of the foundation of ourselves as individuals and as a people, Black people. Alex Haley explored this in his novel “Roots: The Saga of an American Family” where he explored the trajectory and connection of his ancestors and their descendants. Roots can also be connected to the crown that we wear on our heads as descendants of royalty and the diversity of texture of our hair. In this year’s BHM Showcase we are connecting to our roots, of our culture, our ancestors in how we show up every day.
